Obtaining your Broker License
After Completing Your Licensing Courses
You must apply for the Broker State Exam and License by mail; the DRE does not currently accept online applications for the Broker State Exam and License. It is your responsibility to submit your Certificates of Completion for all your licensing courses to the DRE, as the DRE does not accept Certificates of Completion directly from education providers. To download your Certificates of Completion, log in to your Student Homepage or call us at 800.794.0494.
What to Send to the DRE
- Original Certificates of Completion or transcripts for all Broker Licensing Courses taken
- RE 436 - Application for Broker Exam and License
- RE 226 - Employment Verification, completed and signed by employing broker OR
- (If qualifying with Equivalent Experience) RE 227 - Equivalent Experience Verification, completed and signed by certifiers
- (If not previously licensed) RE 205 - Citizenship or Alien Status, completed and signed with proof of residency
- (If not previously licensed) RE 237 - Fingerprint Operator Service
- (If paying with check) A cashier's check, check or money order for $395 payable to the Department of Real Estate
- (If paying with credit card) RE 909 - Credit Card Payment Form
